This message of thanksgiving is the fruit of many messages from the Associates who are in all the countries where the healing charism of Mother Frances is alive. All the messages were collected and we want to express our words with Blessing and Gratitude.

In this Jubilee Year of Mercy, this year marks the 35th anniversary of the Associate Relationship with the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor. It is the year in which our Church around the world opens its doors with mercy. What better time can we reflectively pause for such a great celebration that not only looks back in gratitude but faces the future with much hope!  In diverse ways you, our dear Sisters, have shown us how to “heal the wounds of Christ” and how to bring that healing to those who live in shadows’ darkness. We’ve experienced great joy while living in the service of the poor and suffering for this has transformed our lives. We continue to ask Mother Frances to show us the path to healing the wounds of Christ’s people and releasing healing energy into the community of life. We ask grace this especially in our efforts to witness the love of God in order to create a better world. We are thankful for our solidarity with those who are poor and marginalized which has brought us the honor to feel like missionaries wherever we live.

The formation we have received through you has ripened our faith and motivated our efforts to live out the mission you have set. We are grateful to those first Associates who dared to believe and begin this divine adventure and for the Sisters providing their spiritual and moral support. As Associates of the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor, we are called to live, serve, sacrifice and love – just as a mother would. A Mother’s Love is whole, no matter how many times divided – whether it would be a maternal mother, Blessed Mother Mary, Mother Frances, our foundress or Praise to Mother Earth, as in St. Francis’ Canticle. Truly, this is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Love, Your

SFP Associates
