seneglablessing 01The prayer of Sr. Marilyn TrowbridgeOn February 17, 2014, Sisters, Associates and Employees gathered in the St. Clare Convent dining room in Cincinnati, OH, to celebrate and bless a group of young adults traveling to Senegal for an immersion experience. Sr. Marilyn Trowbridge led us in prayer, and the Sisters sang their traditional 'Blessing of St. Clare' while extending their right hands in blessing over the group. Each traveler was given a Tau Cross to wear on the journey.

The group is co-led by Maria Meyer, Young Adult Ministry Coordinator for the Centennial Barn, and Keith Pfaller, Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries at St. Mary’s Church, Hyde Park.

senegalblessing 02The group traveling to SenegalThrough the kindness of the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor in Senegal and funded in part by the Mission Office of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati (Pontifical Mission Aid Organization), the group will visit our Sisters' missions in Dakar and Koungheul.

The trip begins on March 2, and the group will return to the United States on March 11. Caroline Drennen, a fellow traveler and employee of the University of Dayton, will videotape the events for ongoing mission programs that will be offered at the Centennial Barn and in the participants' parishes.
