For sister Angiolina Marino

80angiolina 01Sr. AngiolinaSunday, January 19, 2014, was a day marked by a special melody for our “patriarch”: Sister Angiolina Marino. It was a day of feast and joy in the courtyard of the KEUR M’BAYE FALL Novitiate. This feast was filled with simplicity just like the person being celebrated that day. However, this feast was very moving and there were so many guests that the Novitiate was transformed into a Church filled to the point of bursting. Three major events marked that day:

1. THE EUCHARISTIC CELEBRATION
The mass was presided over by Father Enzo, an Oblate of Mary Immaculate, who, proceeding from the experience of his own 80th birthday, knew how to touch the heart of Sister Angiolina with his beautiful catechesis. First he highlighted the nuances between “to be getting on in years” and “to grow older”. He said that to be getting on in years relates to the physical condition, while growing older touches the domain of the spirit. He dedicated a poem to her which some friends had offered to him for his birthday to express their friendship and fraternity. He went further while sharing with us what the Bible says concerning old age and he evoked the reflection of Pope John Paul II in V. C. n. 70.

Oh! How moving this event has been! I ask you to forgive me for all the things that went wrong and I ask for the grace to better answer to God's love, thank you.” After these beautiful words of gratitude, the list of surprises began with the Virgin's statue, offered by the Italian friends of the members of the Congregation in Senegal, to honor Sister Angiolina.

2. FRATERNAL MEAL
All those who were present ate and drank until they were full. The meal ended with a delicious cake and the presentation of the gifts to Sister Angiolina.

3. Finally, the AMBIANCE took over around 4 p.m. to liven up all the guests. Everything revolved around the special guest of the day: poetries, dances, sketch and mime.

We are certain that Sister Angiolina belongs to the group of women praised in the Bible: “She brings profit, not loss, to her family all the days of her life… She rises while it is still night… from her earnings she plants a vineyard. She girds herself with strength; she exerts her arms with vigor. She reaches out her hands to the poor, and extends her arms to the needy. She is clothed with strength and dignity, and laughs at the days to come. She opens her mouth in wisdom; kindly instruction is on her tongue.” (Proverbs 31:12-26).

Congratulations, Sister Angiolina, on your birthday; we wish that you may age like a fine wine and that tomorrow your will be full of health, peace, joy, success and love. Thank you for who you are and for everything you do for each of us. Be assured of our love.

Thus, this day of thanksgiving for God's wonders in the life of our Sister ended in joy. Life continues for our good and beloved mother. “May the Lord always take you in his shadow so that the grain of wild mustard planted in this African earth can continue to produce a lot of fruits for the Lord’s greater glory. Amen!”

In the name of the whole family of Mother Frances,
Your Sisters Jacqueline Compaoré and Pascaline Bilgo.
