laudato 01I praise and thank the Lord for all the gifts he has given me in my daily life. Today, in particular, I am praising and thanking him for the 35th Anniversary of the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor Congregational Program. For all these years, the men and women who are Associates are trying to live the charism of the Blessed Frances Schervier: "Healing the wounds of Christ in the poor and the suffering." We Associates from Brazil, united to our dear Sisters, also experience of the Healing Charism with them.

We celebrated this anniversary in Jataí on August 3, receiving with great joy the visit of Sr. Licia Mazzia, our Congregational Minister and our Area Councilor, Sr. Maria Helena Carvalho. They enriched us with their presence, as three Associates, Terezinha Ramos Borges, Odália da Conceição Cruzeiro e Luzia Mancini Vilela, made their Permanent Covenants.

We gathered in the Chapel of the Santa Isabel Convent for a Mass of Thanksgiving. Following Mass, Sr. Helena Paula Carvalho led the celebration with songs, prayers and the reading of an extract of the SFP Constitutions concerning the Charism and the Mission: "In offering herself to God for poor and suffering humanity, Blessed Frances, in a very deep sense, heeded the words of the Gospel: 'The gift you have received, give as a gif. (Mt 10,7)." The celebration ended with each of the three Associates’ ritual of Permanent Covenant.

After the ceremony we celebrated, savoring a delicious cake and other treats prepared by the Associates and the Sisters of Jataí together. Of course, we also sang the "Happy Birthday"!

The Sisters always welcome us with great joy and love, that we reciprocate all heartily: it is always a joy when we meet! We ask continually for the grace of God, so that we are able to "generate compassion and hope in the community of life."

A big hug to all the Sisters of the Congregation, and congratulations to all the other Associates for their dedication to the service of the charism.
