Sr Marilyn, sr Kathleen, sr Licia
Sr. Kathleen made First Profession in 1960 and her Perpetual Vows in 1965.
Her earliest years as a Sister were spent in the business office. She then went on into nursing and had several hospital experiences in the areas of education and as a supervisor. A significant portion of her nursing career was her time at Mt Alverno Center caring as a Coordinator for the needs of Sisters and Friars. She made many close friends over those years and treasures the friendships.
With the focus growing on alternative therapies in the 1990's, Sr. Kathleen decided to pursue certification as a massage therapist. She used her gift of touch for several years with patients within health systems in New Jersey.
In more recent years, Sr. Kathleen has been a Sister visitor to the residents of Schervier Pavilion. Her spiritual life has always been nourished by her devotion to sacramental life and prayer.
Sr. Kathleen sees her call to the Congregation as a continuation of the love and joy given to her by her parents. As she looks to the future, she wishes that the Church show forth love and peace that would extend to the entire world. Sr. Kathleen treasures the renewal of Vatican 11 that encouraged greater participation of the laity especially in Eucharistic celebrations.
Sr. Kathleen has a love for all things Irish and can do a great Irish jig at the drop of a hat.
On Saturday, September 23rd the first full day of Fall, Sisters, Associates and Friends gathered in Warwick, New York to celebrate . The day was beautiful from the start, with clear blue skies, plenty of sunshine and the joy of coming together for a wonderful celebration.
The liturgy was celebrated in the Mt Alverno Center Chapel with Fr. Jamie Bono as celebrant. Sr. Kathleen wore a stole specially created for the occasion by two of our Associates, Jo Koch and Julie Kraemer. Several family members were incorporated into the liturgy which added a tender touch to the occasion. Sr. Pauline was on hand to oversee the music. Many “behind the scene people” enabled this day to be a special event for Sr. Kathleen.
After the liturgy, all enjoyed a lovely dinner in the Greenbriar Room of the Center. One could easily pick up that the energy level of the room was overflowing with joy, thanksgiving and praise to our God who continues to rejoice in us.
Congratulations and blessings Kathleen, for the many ways you have been a healing presence to others over the past 60 years.
